Sir William Cuningham of Robertland, 5th Bt. was the son of William Cuningham and unknown McIlvain.2 He married Margaret Fairlie, daughter of William Fairlie of Fairlie, in 1741.1 He died on 25 October 1781.1
He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Cuningham, of Robertland, co. Ayr [N.S., 1630] after August 1705.1 On 3 August 1778 he was served heir male to his great-great-grandfather Sir David Cuningham of Robertland.1
