     Edward Every-Clayton was born on 28 May 1801.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Every, 9th Bt. and Penelope Mosley.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Clayton, daughter of Colonel Thomas Clayton, on 10 February 1835.1 He married, secondly, Eliza Halsted Holgate, daughter of Robert Holgate, on 10 October 1854.3 He died on 11 October 1885 at age 84.3
     He was also known as Edward Every.3 In 1835 his name was legally changed to Edward Every-Clayton by Royal Licence.4 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 80th Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 1st Lancashire Militia.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Lancashire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lancashire.1 He lived at Rowley, Lancashire, England.1
