     Humphrey Richard Pelly was born on 31 July 1886.1 He was the son of Herbert Cecil Pelly and Mary Richenda Carter.2 He married Barbara Vidal Scrutton, daughter of Frederick Scrutton, on 8 February 1916.1 He died on 9 May 1955 at age 68.1
     Humphrey Richard Pelly gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Engineers (Territorial Forces).1
