Sir Howard Warburton Elphinstone, 3rd Bt. was born on 26 July 1830.1 He was the son of Sir Howard Elphinstone, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Julia Curteis.2 He married Constance Mary Alexander Hankey, daughter of John Alexander Hankey and Ellen Hankey, on 4 August 1860.1 He died on 3 January 1917 at age 86.1
He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a practising barrister.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Sussex.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Elphinstone, of Sowerby, Cumberland [U.K., 1816] on 16 March 1893.1
