Ernest Philip Alphonso Law was born on 26 August 1854.1 He was the son of Hon. William Towry Law and Matilda Montgomery.2 He married Katherine Helen Campbell Russell, daughter of John Russell, on 21 May 1890.1 He died on 25 February 1930 at age 75.1
He graduated from London University, London, EnglandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1920.1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1926.1
