     William Edge was born on 5 October 1936.1 He is the son of Sir Knowles Edge, 2nd Bt. and Dorothea Eunice Walker.2 He married Avril Elizabeth Denson, daughter of Harold Denson, on 5 September 1959.1
     William Edge was educated at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.1 He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He graduated from Harvard Business School, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A., with a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.).1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Edge, of Ribble Lodge, in the Borough of Lytham Saint Annes in the County Palatine of Lancaster [U.K., 1937] on 19 March 1984, although he does not use his title.1 He lived in 2003 at 66 Harrow Road, Maidenhead, Berkshire, England.1
