     Gerald Milnes FitzGerald was born on 5 October 1883.1 He was the son of Sir Gerald FitzGerald and Hon. Amicia Henrietta Milnes.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1908 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1909 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd County of London Yeomanry and 103rd Battalion, Machine Gun Corps.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.1 He was an archaeologist.1
