     James William Dewar was born on 9 September 1827 at Bombay, India.¹ He was the son of Sir James Dewar and Clementine Wemyss.² He married, firstly, Kate Jane Dayrell, daughter of Edmund Dayrell, on 17 November 1850.¹ He married, secondly, Benares Anna de Stieger, daughter of Baron unknown de Stieger, on 15 November 1855.¹ He died on 19 July 1861 at age 33.¹
     James William Dewar was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Ensign in 1846 in the service of the 49th Regiment.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1850.¹ He was decorated with the award of Order of the Medjidie (5th Class) in 1853.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in 1854.¹ He fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855, present at Alma, Inkerman and Sebastapol (where he was one of the Town Majors).¹ He was decorated with the award of Chevalier, Legion of Honour in 1857.¹ He gained the rank of Major in 1858.¹

     Kate Jane Dayrell was the daughter of Edmund Dayrell.² She married James William Dewar, son of Sir James Dewar and Clementine Wemyss, on 17 November 1850.¹ She died on 14 May 1853.¹
     From 17 November 1850, her married name became Dewar.

     Kate Jane Dewar was born on 14 January 1851.¹ She was the daughter of James William Dewar and Kate Jane Dayrell.² She married Nicholas Shelton O'Reilly on 7 January 1875.¹ She died on 25 February 1915 at age 64.¹
     From 7 January 1875, her married name became O'Reilly.

     Nicholas Shelton O'Reilly married Kate Jane Dewar, daughter of James William Dewar and Kate Jane Dayrell, on 7 January 1875.¹ He died on 14 April 1929.¹
     He had four sons and nine daughters.¹

     William Wemyss Methven Dewar was born on 18 September 1829.¹ He was the son of Sir James Dewar and Clementine Wemyss.² He married, firstly, Philippa Maria Ramsay, daughter of John Turner Ramsay, on 18 February 1852.¹ He married, secondly, Augusta Slater-Harris, daughter of John Harrison Slater-Harris, on 14 April 1857.¹ He died on 27 June 1903 at age 73.¹
