In 1882 he served in HMSS Hope and Eira in an Arctic Expedition.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Antrim.1 He was Superintendant of the Sheerness Dockyard between 1907 and 1908.2 He lived at Magherintemple, Ballycastle, County Antrim, IrelandG.1 He retired from the military in 1909, with the rank of Rear-Admiral.2
