     Susan Ellen Wake was born circa 1879.1 She was the daughter of Drury Wake and Louisa Julia Harriet Nethercote.2,3 She married Lt.-Col. John Carden, son of Charles Wilson Carden and Jane Bolton King, on 25 October 1909.1 She died on 26 April 1961.4
     From 25 October 1909, her married name became Carden.

     Major Andrew Carden was born on 4 August 1910.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Carden and Susan Ellen Wake.2 He married, firstly, Katherine Hugo Cross, daughter of Captain unknown Cross, on 19 June 1937.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Knapman, daughter of John Knapman, on 18 April 1973.1 He died in July 1996 at age 85 at Colchester, Essex, England.3
     He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated in 1934 with a Architects' Association Diploma.1 He was registered as a Associate, Royal institute of British Architects (A.R.I.B.A.) in 1935.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Engineers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was a partner of Carden, Godfrey & Macfadyen.1 He was architect of Westminster School, Ashridge College, Worcester College, and Fishbourne Roman Palace.1 He lived in 1976 at Crodon's Barn, Woodham Mortimer, Essex, EnglandG.1

     Elizabeth Knapman is the daughter of John Knapman.1 She married, firstly, John Kendall before 1973.1 She married, secondly, Major Andrew Carden, son of Lt.-Col. John Carden and Susan Ellen Wake, on 18 April 1973.1
     She was registered as a Licentiate in Dental Surgery (L.D.S.)1 She was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons (M.R.C.S.)1 From before 1973, her married name became Kendall.1 From 18 April 1973, her married name became Carden.

William Thurnall1
