     Admiral John Surman Carden was born in 1771.1 He was the son of John William Carden and Sarah Surman.2 He married unknown daughter Phillips, daughter of unknown Phillips.1 He died in 1858.1
     Admiral John Surman Carden was commissioned in 1788, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Admiral.1 He wrote the book Memoirs of Admiral Carden, published 1850.1
