     Matthew Grant was born on 27 October 1601 at Woodbridge, Devon, England.1,2 He was the son of John Grant and Alice Turberville.2 He married, firstly, Priscilla Grey, daughter of Anthony Grey, 9th Earl of Kent and Magdalen Purefoy, on 16 November 1625 at England.1 He married, secondly, Susanna Capen, daughter of Bernard Capen, on 29 May 1645.1 He died on 16 December 1681 at age 80 at Windsor, Connecticut, U.S.A..1
     Matthew Grant emigrated to Nantasket, Massachusetts, U.S.A., arriving on 30 May 1630 from Plymouth, Devon, on board Mary and John.1 He was the Town Clerk between 1652 and 1677 at Windsor, Connecticut, U.S.A..1

     From before 1645, her married name became Rockwell.1 From 29 May 1645, her married name became Grant.1
