     Major John Moran Murphy was born on 5 April 1892.1 He was the son of John Murphy and Katherine Treston.2 He married Cynthia Stirling Buckley, daughter of Colonel Edward James Buckley, on 16 July 1942.1
     Major John Moran Murphy was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1944, when he was invalided out.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He lived in 1976 at Orchard House, East Budleigh, Devon, England.1

     Patrick Murphy married Johanna Riordan in 1689.1
     He came to County Tipperary after his lands in County Wexford were confiscated by Cromwell.1 In 1689 he saved the life of a son of a Captain Judkin, one of King William III's entourage, and was grnated the lease of lands in Ballymore, Cashel, County Tipperary.1 He lived at Ballagh, County Tipperary, Ireland.1
