Major John Moran Murphy1

     Major John Moran Murphy was born on 5 April 1892.1 He was the son of John Murphy and Katherine Treston.2 He married Cynthia Stirling Buckley, daughter of Colonel Edward James Buckley, on 16 July 1942.1 He died on 3 April 1976 at age 83 at East Budleigh, Devon, England.3
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1944, when he was invalided out.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.1 He lived in 1976 at Orchard House, East Budleigh, Devon, EnglandG.1

     Cynthia Stirling Buckley is the daughter of Colonel Edward James Buckley.1 She married, firstly, Major Lewis Downrish Joll, son of Henry Joll and Katharine Bice Burnard, before 1940.1 She married, secondly, Major John Moran Murphy, son of John Murphy and Katherine Treston, on 16 July 1942.1
     From before 1940, her married name became Joll.1 From 16 July 1942, her married name became Murphy.

Patrick Murphy1

     Patrick Murphy married Johanna Riordan in 1689.1
     He came to County Tipperary after his lands in County Wexford were confiscated by Cromwell.1 In 1689 he saved the life of a son of a Captain Judkin, one of King William III's entourage, and was grnated the lease of lands in Ballymore, Cashel, County Tipperary.1 He lived at Ballagh, County Tipperary, IrelandG.1
