William Stewart was born in 1737.2 He was the son of John Stewart of Castle Stewart and Jean Craik.2 He married Euphemia Mackenzie, daughter of Kenneth Mackenzie, Lord Fortrose and Lady Mary Stewart, in 1771 at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He died in 1797.2
