     Sir John Cotton, 3rd Bt. was born in 1621.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Cotton, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Howard.1,2 He married, firstly, Dorothy Anderson, daughter of Edmund Anderson and Alice Constable.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Honywood, daughter of Sir Thomas Honywood and Hester Lamotte, on 20 October 1658 at Marks Hall, Essex, England.1,3 He died on 12 September 1702 at Stratton, Bedfordshire, England.3 His will was probated on 15 September 1702.3 He was buried at Connington, Huntingdonshire, England.3
     Sir John Cotton, 3rd Bt. held the office of Gentleman of the Privy Chamber in 1661.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdon between 1661 and 1679.1,3 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Cotton, of Connington, co. Huntingdon [E., 1611] on 13 May 1662.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Huntingdonshire between 1685 and 1687.3 His last will was dated between 11 April 1701 and 8 April 1712.3
