     Evelyn Hilary Branfoot was born on 16 June 1915.2 She was the daughter of Clive Branfoot.3 She married William Francis Deedes, Baron Deedes, son of Herbert William Deedes and Melesina Gladys Chenevix Trench, in November 1942.1 She died on 5 May 2004 at age 88.2
     Evelyn Hilary Branfoot usually went by her middle name of Hilary.2 From November 1942, her married name became Deedes. After her marriage, Evelyn Hilary Branfoot was styled as Lady Deedes on 23 September 1986.

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was a journalist.2 He was editorial director of the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph between 1986 and 1996.1 He was managing director of The Telegraph plc between 1996 and 2002.2 He lived in 2003 at Hamilton House, Hockham Road, Compton, Newbury, Berkshire, EnglandG.1
