Sir John Rose George Sinclair of Dunbeath, 7th Bt.1

     Sir John Rose George Sinclair of Dunbeath, 7th Bt. was born on 10 August 1864.2 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Young Sinclair and Margaret Crichton Alston.1 He married Edith Dunbar, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Matthew Dunbar, on 7 January 1885.2 He died on 3 November 1926 at age 62, without issue.2
     He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Sinclair, of Dunbeath, co. Caithness [N.S., 1704] on 21 April 1873.2 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1886.2 He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.)2 He was commander of the 62nd (Middlesex) Imperial Yeomanry.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He fought in the Boer War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He gained the rank of officer in the King's (Liverpool) Regiment.2 He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Caithness Volunteer Artillery.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness.2

     Agnes Learmonth is the daughter of John Learmonth.1 She married Captain George Sinclair, son of Sir John Sinclair of Barrock, 6th Bt. and Margaret Learmonth, on 15 June 1859.2 She died on 17 March 1876.2
     From 15 June 1859, her married name became Sinclair.1

     Grace Elizabeth Sinclair was born circa 1832.2 She was the daughter of Sir John Sinclair of Barrock, 6th Bt. and Margaret Learmonth.1 She died on 19 August 1849, young.2 She was buried on 22 August 1849 at Chapel Royal, Holyrood House, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2
