     Major Edward Bernard Mary Burke was born on 19 April 1893.1 He was the son of Edward Plunkett Burke and Christina Mary D'Arcy.2 He married Eileen Jane Josephine MacCarthy, daughter of Justin MacCarthy, on 2 June 1917.1
     Major Edward Bernard Mary Burke was educated at Stoneyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Staff Captain between 1919 and 1920 in the service of the Warley District.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the King's Own Royal Regiment.3 He was at the War Office between 1920 and 1924.1 He was Deputy Assistant Military Secretary between 1941 and 1945.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1944.1 He lived in 1972 at The Cottage, Lichfield, Staffordshire, England.1
