     Sir Edmund Butler was the son of Sir Richard Butler and Catherine O'Reilly.1 He married Giles O'Carroll, daughter of Maolruanaidh O'Carroll.1 He died on 13 June 1464.1
     He was also known as Edmond ‘MacRichard' Butler.2 He was appointed Knight. He lived at Polestwon, County Kilkenny, Ireland.1

     Giles O'Carroll is the daughter of Maolruanaidh O'Carroll.1 She married Sir Edmund Butler, son of Sir Richard Butler and Catherine O'Reilly.1
     She was also known as Katherine O'Carroll. Her married name became Butler.1

     James Butler, 3rd Earl of Ormonde was the son of James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde and Elizabeth Darcy.1 He married Anne de Welles, daughter of John de Welles, 4th Lord Welles and Maud de Ros, before 17 June 1386.2 He died on 6 September 1405.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Ormonde [I., 1328] on 18 October 1382.1 He purchased Kilkenny Castle from 1391 to 1393.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1392.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Cork in 1400.1

     Anne de Welles was the daughter of John de Welles, 4th Lord Welles and Maud de Ros.2 She married James Butler, 3rd Earl of Ormonde, son of James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde and Elizabeth Darcy, before 17 June 1386.2 She died after 1396.3
     After her marriage, Anne de Welles was styled as Countess of Ormonde before 17 June 1386. From before 17 June 1386, her married name became Butler.2

     James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde was born on 4 October 1331.1 He was the son of James Butler, 1st Earl of Ormonde and Lady Eleanor de Bohun.1 He married Elizabeth Darcy, daughter of Sir John Darcy, 1st Lord Darcy de Knayth and Lady Joan de Burgh.2 He died on 18 October 1382 at age 51.1
     James Butler, 2nd Earl of Ormonde also went by the nick-name of 'The Noble Earl' on account of being the great-grandson of King Edward I.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Ormonde [I., 1328] on 6 January 1337.1 He held the office of Constable of Dublin Castle in March 1349/50.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1359.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1364.1 He held the office of Justiciar [Ireland] in 1376.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
