     Sir Robert Southwell was born in 1632 at Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland. He died on 11 September 1702 at Kings Weston, Gloucestershire, England.1
     He held the office of Clerk of the Privy Counsel, to King Charles II.1 He held the office of Principal Secretary of State [Ireland] in 1690.1
