     Lt.-Col. Philip Henry Herbert Hulton Preston was born on 11 December 1914.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Philip Henry Hulton Preston and Dorothy May Jennings.2 He married, secondly, Jean Mary Turner, daughter of Harold Neale Turner.1 He married, firstly, Katherine Janet Broomhall, daughter of Dr. Benjamin Charles Broomhall, on 9 November 1940.1 He died in 1973.1
     Lt.-Col. Philip Henry Herbert Hulton Preston was educated at Wellington College, Wellington, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the South Lancashire Regimentt, formerly 2nd KEO, Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1

     Katherine Janet Broomhall was the daughter of Dr. Benjamin Charles Broomhall.2 She married Lt.-Col. Philip Henry Herbert Hulton Preston, son of Lt.-Col. Philip Henry Hulton Preston and Dorothy May Jennings, on 9 November 1940.1 She died on 14 November 1968.1
     From 9 November 1940, her married name became Preston.
