     Douglas Close Richmond was born on 20 May 1839 at Denton, Kent, England.2 He was the son of Reverend Henry Sylvester Richmond and Caroline Eliza Close.1,2 He married, firstly, Hon. Margaret Cecilia Bruce, daughter of Henry Austin Bruce, 1st Baron Aberdare of Duffryn and Annabella Beadon, on 16 September 1869.1 He married, secondly, Ethel Emily Skrine, daughter of Henry Duncan Skrine and Susan Caroline Mills, in 1880 at Bath, SOmerset, England.2 He died on 3 April 1930 at age 90 at Kensington, London, England.1,2
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He held the office of Comptroller and Auditor-General.2
