     General Sir Archibald Alison, 2nd Bt. was born on 21 January 1826.1 He was the son of Sir Archibald Alison, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Glencairn Tytler.1 He married Jane Black on 18 November 1858.1 He died on 5 February 1907 at age 81.1
     He gained the title of 2nd Baronet Alison. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
