     Lt.-Col. Hubert Montagu Cotton Curtis was born on 1 February 1876.¹ He was the son of William Cotton Curtis and Caroline Louisa Thornewill.² He married, firstly, Lilian Susette Watson, daughter of Louis Watson, on 31 July 1915.¹ He and Lilian Susette Watson were divorced in 1929.¹ He married, secondly, Marcella Olive Penrose Robinson, daughter of Peter Robinson, on 4 May 1929.¹ He died on 11 July 1948 at age 72.¹
     Lt.-Col. Hubert Montagu Cotton Curtis gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 6th Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment, Territorial Forces Reserves.¹ He gained the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Colonel in 1918 in the service of the 7th Service Battalion, East Kent Regiment.¹ He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) (and two bars (1918 and 1919)) in 1918.¹

     Lilian Susette Watson was the daughter of Louis Watson.¹ She married, firstly, Alfred Stephen Broadwood before 1915.¹ She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Hubert Montagu Cotton Curtis, son of William Cotton Curtis and Caroline Louisa Thornewill, on 31 July 1915.¹ She and Lt.-Col. Hubert Montagu Cotton Curtis were divorced in 1929.¹ She died on 1 July 1931.¹
     From before 1915, her married name became Broadwood.¹ From 31 July 1915, her married name became Curtis.

     William Richard Curtis was born on 2 March 1933.¹ He is the son of Lt.-Col. Hubert Montagu Cotton Curtis and Marcella Olive Penrose Robinson.² He married Janice Clare Duckworth, daughter of William Yates Duckworth, on 27 April 1961.¹
