     Ralph Maximilian Yorke was born on 22 October 1874.1 He was the son of John Reginald Yorke and Sophia Matilda de Tuyll de Serooskerken.2 He married Hon. Muriel Fanny Herschell, daughter of Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell, on 4 October 1906.1 He died on 25 February 1951 at age 76.1
     Ralph Maximilian Yorke gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 11th Hussars.1 He gained the rank of Boer War in 1902.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was decorated with the award of Commander, Order of the Crown of Romania.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of St. Maurice and St. Lazarus Italy.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Gloucester Yeomanry.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1921.1

     Hon. Muriel Fanny Herschell was the daughter of Farrar Herschell, 1st Baron Herschell.2 She married Ralph Maximilian Yorke, son of John Reginald Yorke and Sophia Matilda de Tuyll de Serooskerken, on 4 October 1906.1 She died on 26 October 1956.1
     From 4 October 1906, her married name became Yorke.
