     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Worcestershire Regiment.1

     Gladys Cook was born on 2 March 1879 at Cheadle, Cheshire, England.2 She was the daughter of William Austin Cook.2 She married John Winston Foley Winnington, son of Sir Francis Salwey Winnington, 5th Bt. and Jane Spencer-Churchill, on 5 July 1910.1 She died on 21 August 1920 at age 41 at County Lunatic Asylum, Barnsley Hall, North Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England.2
     Gladys Cook used the stage-name of Gladys Raymond.2 From 5 July 1910, her married name became Winnington.
