     Lt.-Col. Henry William Newton Guinness was born on 5 August 1854.1 He was the son of Reverend William Newton Guinness and Harriet F. Day.2 He married Frances Helen West, daughter of Henry West, on 8 April 1893.1 He died on 5 August 1925 at age 71.1
     Lt.-Col. Henry William Newton Guinness was educated at Newton Abbot School, Newton Abbot, Devon, England.1 He was commissioned in 1873, in the service of the 18th Regiment.1 He fought in the Afghan War in 1880.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1881 in the service of the Royal Irish Regiment.1 He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Major in 1885.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1889.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He had two other sons.1
