     John Giffard was the son of Henry Giffard and Martha Hill.2 He married Dorcas Murphy, daughter of Arthur Murphy and Elizabeth Knox, in 1745.1 He died in November 1746.1
     John Giffard held the office of Coroner of Devon.1 He was disinherited of the greater part of his patrimony by his grandfather at the instigation of his uncle Caesar. He won a court judgment in his favour but died soon after.1 He lived at Great Torrington, Devon, England.1 He lived at Wotton, Devon, England.1

     John Giffard was born on 14 February 1746/47.1 He was the son of John Giffard and Dorcas Murphy.2 He married Sarah Morton, daughter of William Morton, in June 1769.1 He died in May 1827 at age 80.1
     John Giffard gained the rank of Captain in 1788 in the service of the Dublin Militia.1 He held the office of Accountant-General of Customs.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Dublin in 1794.1 He lived at Dromartin Castle, County Dublin, Ireland.1
