     Robert Edward de Vere Capell, 10th Earl of Essex was born on 13 January 1920.1 He was the son of Arthur Algernon de Vere Capell and Alice Mabel Currie.2 He married Doris Margaret Tomlinson, daughter of George Frederick Tomlinson, on 3 January 1942.3 He died on 5 June 2005 at age 85.4
     He fought in the Second World War.3 He gained the rank of Flight Sergeant in the service of the Royal Air Force.3 He was a partner in the family grocery store.1 He was clerk with the Post Office.1 He succeeded to the title of 10th Earl of Essex [E., 1661] on 18 May 1981.3 He succeeded to the title of 11th Baron Capell of Hadham, co. Hereford [E., 1641] on 18 May 1981.3 He succeeded to the title of 10th Viscount Malden, co. Essex [E., 1661] on 18 May 1981.3 He lived in 2003 at 2 Novak Place, Torrisholme, Morecambe, Lancashire, England.3
