Field Marshall Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Blakeney was born on 26 March 1778.1 He was the son of Colonel William Blakeney and Sarah Shields.1 He married Mary Gardiner, daughter of Colonel Thomas Gardiner, on 5 May 1814 in a childless marriage.1 He died on 2 August 1868 at age 90.1
