Stephen Richard St. Leger Blakeney was born on 31 March 1898 at India.1 He was also reported to have been born on 31 March 1897 at Rathdown, County Dublin, Ireland.2 He was the son of Richard Henry Blakeney and Henrietta May Catterson-Smith.1 He married Mary Alice Falkiner, daughter of Norman Fraser Falkiner and Mary Louisa Smithwick, on 8 March 1923.1 He died in 1984 at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.3
     He was educated at Exeter School, Exeter, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Quetta Cadet College, India.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was commissioned on 30 January 1917 with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, in the service of the 76th Punjabis.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenan on 30 January 1918 in the 82nd Punjabis.3 He gained the rank of Captain on 30 January 1921.3 He was a minor counties cricketer, playing for Devon and the Europeans (India).3 He fought in the Second World War.1 He retired from the military in 1946, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the 10th Baluch Regiment.1 As of 1976, Lt.-Col.
