     Francis Howard, 6th Baron Howard of Effingham was baptised on 17 September 1643.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Howard and Frances Courthope.1 He married, firstly, Philadelphia Pelham, daughter of Sir Thomas Pelham, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Vane, on 8 July 1673.2 He married, secondly, Susan Felton, daughter of Sir Henry Felton, Bt., on 20 January 1689/90.1 He died on 30 March 1695 at age 51.1
     Francis Howard, 6th Baron Howard of Effingham succeeded to the title of 6th Baron Howard of Effingham, co. Surrey [E., 1554] on 26 April 1681.1 He held the office of Governor of Virginia.1 He had another son and three daughters by his first wife.1
