Colonel George Sackville Cotter was born on 1 July 1783.2 He was the son of Reverend George Sackville Cotter and Margaret Rogers.3 He married Jane Crofts, daughter of William Crofts and Catherine Anne Gibbings, on 10 March 1819.2 He died on 9 April 1869 at age 85.2
He gained the rank of Colonel in the 69th Regiment.2 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.2 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815.2
