Charles Aloysius Barnewall, 18th Baron Trimlestown was born on 14 May 1861.2 He was the son of Charles Barnewall and Letitia Aylmer.1,3 He married, firstly, Margaret Theresa Stephens, daughter of Richard John Stephens, on 26 October 1889.2 He married, secondly, Mabel Florence Shuff, daughter of William Robert Shuff, on 10 December 1907.2 He married, thirdly, Josephine Francesca Nixon, daughter of Sir Christopher John Nixon, 1st Bt. and Mary Agnes Blake, on 12 August 1930.4 He died on 26 January 1937 at age 75.1
He succeeded as the 18th Baron Trimlestown, of Trimlestown, co. Meath [I., 1461] on 10 September 1891.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)2
