John Chidley Coote was born on 6 September 1816.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Henry Coote, 9th Bt. and Caroline Whaley.2 He married Margaret Mary Pole Cosby, daughter of Sydney Cosby and Emily Ashworth, on 6 December 1855.1 He died on 26 April 1879 at age 62, without issue.1
