     Philip Arthur Whitcombe was born in 1923.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Philip Sidney Whitcombe.3 He married Hon. Rosemary Anne Heather Colville, daughter of David John Colville, 1st Baron Clydesmuir and Agnes Anne Bilsland, on 14 July 1954.1 He died on 11 August 2015.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery.1

     He was educated at Bedford School, Bedford, Bedfordshire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1902 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)2 He graduated in 1902 with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Ch.)2 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1902 with a Bachelor of Art in Obstretics (B.A.O.)2 He graduated in 1904 with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Army Medical Corps.2 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1916, in the Cameroons.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.2 He lived in 1958 at Darver Castle, Dundalk, County Louth, IrelandG.2

     Joan Marguerita Booth was born on 28 October 1919.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Ernest Brabazon Booth and Marguerita Agnes Currie.3,2 She married Lt.-Col. Ronald John Bilsland Colville, 2nd Baron Clydesmuir, son of David John Colville, 1st Baron Clydesmuir and Agnes Anne Bilsland, on 10 April 1946.1 She died on 9 July 2014 at age 94 at Whim Hall, Lamancha.4
     From 10 April 1946, her married name became Colville. After her marriage, Joan Marguerita Booth was styled as Baroness Clydesmuir on 31 October 1954.
