     John Colville held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North-East Lanarkshire.3 He lived at Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.3

     David Colville was born on 21 April 1890.1 He was the son of Archibald Colville and Jane Millar.2 He married Elizabeth Robertson, daughter of Sir Henry Beyer Robertson, on 9 August 1916.1 He died on 12 April 1964 at age 73.1
     David Colville was educated at Fettes School, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry.1
