     Hon. William Herbert Mervyn Roberts was born on 23 November 1906.1 He was the son of John Herbert Roberts, 1st Baron Clwyd and Hannah Rushton Caine.2 He married Eileen Margaret Easom, daughter of Alfred Thomas Easom, on 15 April 1947.1 He died in 1990.1
     Hon. William Herbert Mervyn Roberts usually went by his middle name of Mervyn.3 He was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk, England.3 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1928 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was a composer and teacher.1 He lived Associate, Royal College of Music (A.R.C.M.).3 He was registered as a ALCM.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Denbighshire in 1954.1

     Joan de Bois Murray was the daughter of Charles Robert Murray.2 She married John Trevor Roberts Roberts, 2nd Baron Clwyd, son of John Herbert Roberts, 1st Baron Clwyd and Hannah Rushton Caine, on 4 January 1932.1 She died in 1985.1
     From 4 January 1932, her married name became Roberts. As a result of her marriage, Joan de Bois Murray was styled as Baroness Clwyd on 19 December 1955.
