     John King Davis was born on 19 February 1884 at Kew, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was the son of James Green Davis and Marion Alice King.1 He died on 8 May 1967 at age 83 at Toorak, Melbourne, Victoria, AustraliaG, unmarried.1
     He was educated in 1900 at Burford Grammar School, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was chief officer of the steam yacht Nimrod for the British Antarctic Expedition under Shackleton in July 1907.1 He was second in command of Aurora for the Australasian Antarctic Expedition under Douglas Mawson between 1911 and 1914.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.) in 1915.1 He was he commanded the Ross Sea Relief Expedition, to resuce Shackleton's shore party from the 1914 Expedition in October 1916.1 He wrote the book With the 'Aurora' in the Antarctic, 1911-14, published 1919.1 He was Commonwealth director of navigation between 1920 and February 1949.1 He wrote the book Willis Island:a Storm Warning Station in the Coral Sea, published 1923.1 He wrote the book High Latitude, published 1962.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1965.1

     Baron Solomon Benedict de Worms was born in February 1801.1 He was the son of Benedict Moses Worms and Schönge Jeannette Rothschild.1 He married Henrietta Samuel, daughter of Samuel Moses Samuel, on 11 July 1827.1 He died on 20 October 1882 at age 81.1
     He was created 1st Baron de Worms [Austria] on 23 April 1871.1 On 10 August 1874 he was granted a Royal Licence to use his Austrian title in Britian.1
