Oswald Partington, 2nd Baron Doverdale was born on 4 May 1872.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Partington, 1st Baron Doverdale and Sarah Alcock Howorth.1 He married, firstly, Hon. Clare Isabel Murray, daughter of Montolieu Fox Oliphant Murray, 1st Viscount Elibank and Blanche Alice Scott, on 6 August 1902.1 He and Hon. Clare Isabel Murray were divorced in 1934.1 He married, secondly, Leslie Cornell, daughter of George B. Cornell, on 26 July 1934.1 He died on 23 May 1935 at age 63.1
Oswald Partington, 2nd Baron Doverdale was chairman of Barrow Paper Mills Ltd.1 He was a director of Kellner-Partington Pulp Company.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Derbyshire, High Peak Division between 1900 and 1910.1 He held the office of Junior Lord of the Treasury between 1909 and 1910.1 He held the office of Liberal Whip between 1909 and 1910.1 He held the office of Alderman of London between 1913 and 1920.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Yorkshire, Shipley Division between 1915 and 1918.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Doverdale, of Westwood Park, co. Worcester [U.K., 1917] on 5 January 1925.1
