     James Lewes Thomas was born on 20 March 1862.2 He was the son of James Lewes Thomas and Elizabeth Anne Goss.2 He married Anne Louisa Purdon, daughter of Commander George Purdon, on 28 October 1898.2 He died on 13 August 1910 at age 48.2
     James Lewes Thomas graduated from Pembroke College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).2 He lived at Caeglas, Llandilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).2
