     John Cherleton, 2nd Lord Cherleton was born in 1307.2 He was the son of John Cherleton, 1st Lord Cherleton and Hawyse ap Owen.1 He married Maud de Mortimer, daughter of Roger de Mortimer, 1st Earl of March and Joan de Geneville, Baroness Geneville, before 13 April 1319.1 He died before 30 August 1360.1
     He succeeded as the Lord of Powis [feudal baron] in 1353.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Cherleton [E., 1313] in 1353.1 He fought in the Wars of Gascony.1 He held the office of Chamberlain of the Household.1
