     Christopher Chaytor was born in 1494.1 He married Elizabeth Clervaux, daughter of William Clervaux and Isabella Belasyse, circa 1546.1,2 He died circa 15 April 1592.2 He was buried on 18 April 1592 at St. Oswald's, Durham, County Durham, England.2
     He was Registrar of the Consistory Court of Durham.2 He held the office of Surveyor-General, for Queen Elizabeth I.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He lived at Butterby, County Durham, EnglandG.1

     Elizabeth Clervaux was the daughter of William Clervaux and Isabella Belasyse.2 She married Christopher Chaytor circa 1546.1,2 She died in 1584.2
     She was the sole heiress of the Clervaux family which had owned estates at Croft since 1246.1 From circa 1546, her married name became Chaytor.

Sir William Chaytor, 1st and last Bt.1

     Sir William Chaytor, 1st and last Bt. was baptised on 5 August 1639.2 He was the son of Colonel Nicholas Chaytor and Anne Lambton.3,2 He married Peregrina Cradock, daughter of Sir Joseph Cradock and Jane Maxton, on 21 August 1675.2 He died circa December 1720 at Fleet Prison, EnglandG, without surviving male issue.4 He was buried on 7 January 1720/21 at St. Bride's Church, London, EnglandG.4
     He was created 1st Baronet Chaytor, of Croft Hall [near Darlington], co. York [England] on 28 June 1671.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1689 in the Richmondshire Militia.2 He was a prisoner for debt between 1703 and 1720 at Fleet Prison, EnglandG.4
     He had two other daughters.4
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.4

     Henry Chaytor was born circa 1689.1 He was the son of Henry Chaytor and Isobel Marley.2,3 He married Jane Smales, daughter of Mattew Smales and Alice Anderson, in 1732.1,3 He died in February 1774.4

     Jane Smales was born in 1707 at Gilling, Yorkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Mattew Smales and Alice Anderson.3,2 She married Henry Chaytor, son of Henry Chaytor and Isobel Marley, in 1732.1,2 She died on 24 May 1760 at Croft Hall, Darlington, Yorkshire, England.2
     From 1732, her married name became Chaytor.

     He held the office of Recorder of Richmond.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hedon.1

Sir William Chaytor, 1st Bt.1

     Sir William Chaytor, 1st Bt. was born illegitimately on 29 April 1771.1,2 He was the son of William Chaytor and Jane Lee.3 He married Isabella Carter, daughter of John Carter, on 18 August 1803.1 He died on 28 January 1847 at age 75.3
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Sunderland.1 He was also known as 1st Baronet Chaytor, of Croft, co. York [U.K.] as of 30 September 1831.1

     Isabella Carter was the daughter of John Carter.1 She married Sir William Chaytor, 1st Bt., son of William Chaytor and Jane Lee, on 18 August 1803.1 She died on 23 December 1855.1
     From 18 August 1803, her married name became Chaytor.
