     Peter Stuart Chapman was born on 24 August 1944.1 He is the son of Sir Robert MacGowan Chapman, 2nd Bt. and Barbara May Tonks.2 He married Joan Hewitt, daughter of R. S. V. Hewitt, in 1972.1
     Peter Stuart Chapman was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.3 He was educated at Sorbonne, Paris, France.3 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was educated at London School of Economics, London, England, Master of Science (M.Sc.).3 He was a director of Chapman Hendy Associates.1
