     Lt.-Col. Richard Zachariah Mudge was born in 1789.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. William Mudge and Katherine Jane Williamson.2 He married Alice Watson Hull, daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.2 He died in 1854.3
     He was educated at Blackheath, Kent, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.2 He was commissioned in 1807, in the service of the Royal Engineers.2 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.2 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.2 He was a director of geodesical operations, with the Trigonometrical Survey of Great Britain.2 He lived at Beechwood, Devon, EnglandG.1

     Alice Watson Hull was born in 1787 at County Down, Ireland.1 She was the daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.1,2 She married Lt.-Col. Richard Zachariah Mudge, son of Maj.-Gen. William Mudge and Katherine Jane Williamson.1 She died in 1862.3
     Her married name became Mudge.1

     Sophia Hull was baptised on 23 May 1786 at St. Andrew's Church, Holborn, London, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby.1,2 She married Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles, son of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde, on 22 February 1817 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 12 December 1858 at age 72.1
     From 22 February 1817, her married name became Raffles.1

     Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles was born on board the ship Ann, off the coast of Jamaica on 6 July 1781.3 He was the son of Benjamin Raffles and Anne Lyde.1,3 He married, firstly, Olive Marianne Devenish on 14 March 1805.3 He married, secondly, Sophia Hull, daughter of James Watson Hull and Sophia Hollamby, on 22 February 1817 at St. Marylebone Church, Marylebone Road, Marylebone, London, EnglandG.3 He died on 5 July 1826 at age 44.3
     He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Java in 1811.3
     He founded the city of Singapore.1 He wrote the book History of Java, published 1817.3 He was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)1

     She was also known as Mary Anne Sophia Flint.2

     From 1805, her married name became Thompson.2 From 2 May 1811, her married name became Flint.
