     Colonel Douglas Edward Cayley was born on 15 July 1870.¹ He was the son of Henry Cayley and Letitia Mary Walters.² He married Jessie Eyre Duff Gibbon, daughter of Sir William Duff Gibbon, on 7 November 1906.¹ He died on 19 December 1951 at age 81.¹

     From 7 November 1906, her married name became Cayley.

     Commander Richard Douglas Cayley was born on 6 October 1907.¹ He was the son of Colonel Douglas Edward Cayley and Jessie Eyre Duff Gibbon.² He married Nancy Coutts, daughter of Edward Coutts, on 22 April 1933.¹ He died in January 1943 at age 35, killed in action while commanding H.M. Submarine P311.¹
     Commander Richard Douglas Cayley fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.¹ He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) (and two bars).¹
