Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt. and unknown Broun.1 He married, firstly, Katherine Dundas, daughter of Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston, on 6 July 1717.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Kennedy, daughter of Sir John Kennedy of Culzean, 2nd Bt. and Jean Douglas, on 30 May 1729.1 He died between September 1746 and 1765.1
