     Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt. and unknown Broun.1 He married, firstly, Katherine Dundas, daughter of Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston, on 6 July 1717.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Kennedy, daughter of Sir John Kennedy of Culzean, 2nd Bt. and Jean Douglas, on 30 May 1729.1 He died between September 1746 and 1765.1
     Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] in March 1723.1

     Margaret Hamilton was born circa 1744.1 She was the daughter of Robert Hamilton.1 She married Sir John Cathcart, 3rd Bt., son of Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kennedy, on 24 December 1764.1 She died on 25 April 1817.1
     From 24 December 1764, her married name became Cathcart.1

     Lt.-Col. Sir Andrew Cathcart, 4th Bt. was born circa 1742.1 He was the son of Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kennedy.1 He died in 1828.1 His will was probated in August 1828.1
     Lt.-Col. Sir Andrew Cathcart, 4th Bt. succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] in March 1783.1 In 1792 he claimed the Culzean estates of his maternal uncle, Earl of Cassillis, but only received the estates settled on Sir John Kennedy, 3rd Bt.1
