     Sir Louis Arthur Newton, 1st Bt. was born on 17 December 1867 at London, England.^1,2 He was the son of Reuben Newton and Elizabeth Clowes.^3,2 He married, firstly, Eleanor Jane Faulder, daughter of George James Frederick Faulder and Gertrude Brisco, on 29 August 1891.¹ He married, secondly, Florence E. H. Baker, daughter of William Yates Baker, on 7 June 1930.¹ He died on 17 April 1945 at age 77.¹
     He was appointed Knight in 1917.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of London in 1917.¹ He held the office of Lord Mayor of London in 1924.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Newton, of Beckenham [U.K., 1924] on 27 October 1924.¹ He held the office of Member of the London County Council between 1931 and 1934.¹ He was Commissioner of Income Tax, City of London.¹
