Brig.-Gen. Burleigh Francis Brownlow Stuart was born on 1 November 1868.1 He was the son of Burleigh William Henry Fitzgibbon Stuart and Susan Mary Briscoe.2 He married Evelyn Margaret Clarke, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir Edward Henry St. Lawrence Clarke, 4th Bt., on 26 January 1916.1 He died on 8 March 1952 at age 83.1
He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1915.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1
