     Captain David Burdett Money-Coutts was born on 19 July 1931. He is the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Alexander Burdett Money-Coutts and Mary Elspeth Hobhouse. He married Helen Penelope June Utten Todd, daughter of Commander Killingworth Richard Utten Todd and Helen St. Bride Douglas, on 17 May 1958.2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1950 and 1951 in the service of the 1st Royal Dragoons.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1951 in the service of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars (Territorial Army).1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was a Director of Coutts and Company between 1958 and 1996.1 He was a Director of M & G Group plc between 1987 and 1997.1

      From 12 August 1931, her married name became Utten.1
